Local Fare – Seven At Brixton
Nestled amongst the sights and smells of a bustling Brixton market Seven at Brixton instantly invites you in - but it’s unclear why; the stark walls, exposed pipes and bare light bulbs are a far cry from a cosy restaurant. Despite this the forthcoming, jovial atmosphere ensures you are relaxed as soon as you cross the open threshold. Studying the tempting menu while standing at the quirky bookcase bar and observing the eclectic mix of customers, this is the perfect antidote to a weary Wednesday. The tangy cocktails warm up the taste buds and it’s only a matter of time before the smell of Spanish street food tempts you to order!
"The unique but concise cocktail list perfectly reflects the simple but inspired design of the space"
The ingredients used in the cantina style tapas dishes are sourced from a quality Spanish supplier as well as Borough and Brixton Market respectively. The small (but perfectly formed) whitebait, Serrano ham and Patatas Bravas dishes we ordered were delightfully rustic and surprisingly filling. Accompanied by fresh bread and a sharp Peruvian Pomelo cocktail this is the perfect picky menu. The tasty, unfussy tapas dishes are a testament not only to the chefs but also to the high quality food they source. Likewise the unique but concise cocktail list perfectly reflects the simple but inspired design of the space - which continues upstairs to a secretive second floor dining area.
"Seven at Brixton is a simple delight with an understated, unmistakably cool twist of Spanish style, right in the heart of South London"
