Whatever Happened To….. Nice & Smooth?

nicesmooth Whatever Happened To..... Nice & Smooth?

Remember Cross Colours and Karl Kani, Carhatt and 8 Ball Jackets?? Then y’all should remember Nice & Smooth. Those were the days when Hip Hop wasn't just a quick paycheck it was a way of life and Nice & Smooth were the ultimate ‘Hip Hop Junkies’. Bursting onto the scene in 1989 via Big Daddy Kane’s ‘Pimpin Ain’t Easy’ the duo consisted of Greg Nice (Greg Mays) and Smooth B (Daryl Barnes). The funky rhymers brought their cheeky, fun lyrics to lighten the mood of a militant scene, think Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane and X Clan. Hits included ‘Sometimes I Rhyme Slow’, ‘Funky for You’ and of course the aforementioned ‘Hip Hop Junkies’. They caught the attention of Tupac and were due to be signed to his Makaveli label but his unforeseen death meant this was never to be. Smooth B later went on to write rhymes for Bobby Brown albums ‘King of Stage’ and ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ and released single ‘Game Over’ in 2005. Sadly alls been quiet in the Nice & Smooth camp since, who knows where they are now!
