MUSIC AT SCIPMYLO FESTIVAL 2012

The East End is throwing an almighty party and the whole world is invited to get mixed up in SCIPMYLO Festival 2012.

SCIPMYLO 2012 will draw inspiration from the spirit of the international community descending on London this summer to highlight the positive spirit that is reflected in the multicultural residency and lifestyle of the East End.

Entry to the festival site, open 11am -11pm from 28th July – 12th August is free. SCIPMYLO Festival 2012 will bring together a host of talent from around the corner and around the world, family friendly sports experiences, an international pavilion hosting Kenya, The Caribbean and many more, as well as local and global food and drink, in the first ever East London food festival: East Feast.

All music shows (one per day 28th July – 12th August) will take place on the SCIPMYLO main stage. Tickets will be priced £25-£35 or you can celebrate in real style by upgrading to VIP SCIPMYLO packages from £120 including posh barbeque, drinks and covered seating.

7:30pm-11:00pm – Buraka Som Sistema is the MTV European Music Award winning electronic dance music project from Portugal, generally credited with creating the "progressive kuduro" variant

THURSDAY 2ND AUGUST

7:30pm-11:00pm – Guillemots See the prolific London based BRIT Award and Mercury Music Prize nominated indie rock band will be releasing four albums this year, the first of which ‘Hello Land’ is out now. Plus support act TBC.

SATURDAY 4TH AUGUST

With live music set from Soul II Soul featuring Jazzie B. Having helped put British Black music on the international map with a unique mix of soul, reggae, and funk, Jazzie has gone on to become one of the world’s most respected producers & remixers as well as a Grammy award winning artist in his own right.

"Clubland Institution", Norman Jay brings his inimitable crossover style and democratic playlist approach to the UK stage with a DJ set from one of the original house innovators. Treat yourself to a night with the man who can read a crowd like no other - with a bag of surprises to keep the night fresh. Plus guests TBC.

7:30pm-11:00pm – SCIPMYLO’s Jamaica Day Celebration with Ali Campbell
Ali Campbell performs with his new band for the very first time. After nearly 30 years as the front man for UB40, 70 million in record sales and 4 number 1 singles, founding member, Ali Campbell, started a hugely successful solo career. A rare chance to see an international musical talent perform the hits of his career such as Kingston Town, Can’t Help Falling in love, Red Red Wine and many more. Plus support from Aswad.

THURSDAY 9TH AUGUST

7:30pm-10:30pm – The Straits, former members of the Dire Straits band showcase the many hits that defined their sound. The members now split their time between the Straits and duties with other international super bands, from the likes of Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers to the David Gilmour band. An evening of world class musicianship and entertainment. Plus support from Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebels

FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST

7:30pm-10:30pm – Death In Vegas

With all the shadowy enigma of Neu! or Throbbing Gristle, one of the most exciting and unique artists to emerge from the ’90s UK dance scene, is making a stealthy return. Richard Fearless, aka Death In Vegas, cut some of that era’s most unusual records, fusing electro, dub, rock, psychedelia, soul and solid-gone experimentation to create a sound that was spacious and otherworldly, while also segueing with the pop mainstream. Plus support act TBC

SUNDAY 12TH AUGUST

7:30pm-10:30pm – The Cuban Brothers

It’s long been said that Cubans sing when they speak, dance when they walk and woo with a love song so it should be of little surprise that The Cuban Brothers’ peerless funk soul review blends sexy, soulful music, with jaw-dropping b-boy action and riotous comedy. From humble beginnings Miguel Mantovani, Archerio Mantovani and Kengo San have built Los Hermanos Cubanos - The Cuban Brothers - into a legendary outfit that continuously sells out shows across the globe.
