Food Review: London Vegan Drinks At Tibits
With an abundance of meat based eateries in the heart of London, you’ll be hard pressed to find a place that serves fresh healthy food with a sophisticated backdrop resembling the prestige of a west end lounge.
Tibits restaurant is a Swiss owned family business conceived by three brothers with an excellent plan and passion to create a high-class restaurant with uncomplicated fresh fast food. Tibits stands for little bits of healthy fresh food nibbles, which is an understatement for their elegant delivery of continental vegetarian cuisine.
Vegetarian and Vegan restaurant’s in London are still a niche-dining commodity, which usually takes shape in the dingy parts of the capital where people are less likely to frequent on a regular basis. What Tibits provides is a cosmopolitan, approachable and accessible Vegetarian lifestyle restaurant and bar with gorgeous decor resembling that of a private members club such as Home or the Soho House.
Now onto the food. The neatly displayed and rich colours of potatoes, beans, fruits and vegetables were clearly labeled allowing consumers the power to choose the ideal platter. With over 30 dining tidbits to fill your plate, including Gluten free bread, African Aboboe and Lebanese Hot Pot, the potential to eat your way to health is completely tangible at Tibits. The African Aboboe was the perfect blend of sweet and sour potatoe with spices in a lightweight sauce.
The pay-per-weight Swedish dining practice may be a new concept to Londoners -think twice before piling your plate. When you're eating 80% vegan, you don’t need to eat much to feel full and this eliminates waste. An average plate costs approx £8 - £12 which is extremely affordable for the quality of the fresh food.
The best thing on the menu is the NEW Gluten-free Victoria Sponge Cake. The whole restaurant was going back for seconds and thirds! It tastes absolutely delicious, I’m going back just to have tea & a slice of that cake every week!
As well as being a top notch restaurant, the downstairs lounge offers the perfect backdrop for socializing and chilling.
The Vegan Drinks hosted by Sean @FatGayVegan at Tibits fills the space with warm friendly vegans and vegetarians from London’s melting pot. The most refreshing thing about the event was that everyone was unique; it was filled with doctors, lawyers, politicians, shop workers, the unemployed, black, white and all else in between, truly representing London’s rich diversity.
Vegan Drinks takes place every third Thursday of each month. Make sure you get yourself down to the next one; in May, it’s free! Score!!
