Whatever Happened To….. Soul For Real?
Produced by the late, great Heavy D, Soul For Real broke on the scene with their smash ‘Candy Rain’ – and album of the same name. The group made up of brothers Andre, Brian, Christopher and Jason Dalyrimple were touted as the 90s Jackson 5 and they definitely had the singing chops and Motown dance formations to prove it.
Sadly though their career did not match the legendary Jacksons. After the success of their first album and hit singles 'Candy Rain' and ‘Everything Little Thing I Do’ (reaching No.1 and No. 11 on the Billboard Hot RnB/Hip Hop Chart respectively) their later work paled in comparison. Follow up albums, ‘For Life’ produced by Diddy and ‘Heat’ are virtually unheard of.
In 2007 Soul For Real formed their own label Alijoba Music Group and began work on their fourth album ‘Journey’ which is still in the works. Lets hope they at least recapture if not surpass the magic of their first album.
