Jade Jagger’s Pop Up Store at Milletre
In a chic Kensington boutique, June was the month a rock god’s daughter “snapped, crackled and popped“ up! Jade Jagger launched her first pop up store at Valentina & Silvia Cangiano’s award winning boutique Milletre. (Sadly fashionista’s it was for one month only but scroll down to our web links to get your hands on some of our finds). The collection was a combination of Jade’s jewellery (including the hauntingly beautiful skull collection) and clothing line. Valentina (one half of Milletre) shares her style secrets and more on the Jade Jagger event in our interview!
HM: Give us a bit of background on yourself and Silvia Silvia and I are the Milletre founders, but we like to think of ourselves as fashion consultants. My sister came to London to do a degree in marketing while working for a high-end luxury stationary brand. She then worked for a fashion label organizing trade fairs and liaising with press. I graduated in Communication & Journalism in Milan. Following my degree I landed a job on one of the biggest radio networks in Italy, this then led to a Freelance Consultant position with a luxury fashion brand. Even with no prior fashion education, both our paths enabled us to gain crucial contacts to start Milletre.
HM: Who does your visual merchandising? I really admire their style.
We collaborate with freelance merchandisers in order to always get a fresh and innovative take on Milletre. We enjoy scouting for new talent in London’s top fashion academies.
HM: What 5 words would you use to describe the brands in your boutique?
Exclusive, Unique, Sophisticated, Timeless and Trendy.
HM: Describe the Milletre woman?
A cosmopolitan, independent woman who is successful in her career, naturally elegant and aspires to reflect that through the way that she dresses.
HM: Of the trends this season which ones are proving most popular with your customers?
Wedges & Platforms in footwear and Coral s and Nude tones for Ready to Wear.
HM: The Jade Jagger pop up store event was a huge success. Do you plan similar events for the future?
Yes, we are in fact hosting another pop up store very soon with an upcoming, well-reviewed E-Commerce platform. This event will be inspired by some of our favorite spring/summer trends. We are also hosting an event with Match d’amour on June 29th which will be a different kind of event with a focus on uniqueness and exclusivity. I guess our success with the pop up store initiative is gaining great feedback nationally and internationally. We have consequently started a collaboration with Richard Farley’s premier match-making company as Personal Stylists and Image Consultants.
HM: How would you describe Jade’s collection in 5 words and what was it about Jade’s line that caught your eye?
Fun, versatile, stylish, striking, distinctive of Jade. We liked that the jewelry was representative of Jade.
HM: What is your favorite piece from the collection and why?
The skull rosary due to its striking allure and versatility. The combination of precious stones and semi- precious stones adds a new dimension that certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
HM: What designers or brands really inspire you at the moment and why?
It is very hard to choose, there are so many. When it comes to silhouette and colour for Spring/Summer it has to be Jil Sander and Prada. For print Christopher Kane and for footwear Miu Miu, Sergio Rossi & Giuseppe Zanotti. As for Autumn/Winter, we love Yves St Laurent for its fluidity, Stella McCartney for the sheerness and Bottega Veneta for their lace and draping combinations.
HM: Where do you see Milletre in 5 years? Any plans to open more stores or add more brands?
Milletre’ is our main and first platform to develop other projects. This year we have started to work on a style and brand consultancy agency “The Cult Factory”. We are also designing our own collection, which we hope to launch this year. The collection is born through our realization of what we noticed was missing in store and through our client requests. It will be a casual couture capsule collection with a touch of irony and will include bags, knitwear & scarves to start with. We plan to distribute the brand worldwide with Asia and America as target markets, UK goes without saying. Also we’re planning a new e-commerce platform to focus on the most exclusive and latest upcoming designer.
